How to prepare for your scan.
A few simple things to know before you arrive — for a smooth, calm and clinically accurate experience.
Before your MRI
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zips, buttons or embroidery.
- Remove jewellery, watches, hearing aids, hairpins and dentures.
- Tell us in advance about any pacemaker, cochlear implant, metal clip, or implanted device.
- For MRCP, fasting for 4–6 hours may be required — our team will confirm at booking.
- If you are or might be pregnant, please tell us before the scan.
- If you experience claustrophobia, mention it — we'll guide you and stay in touch throughout.
Before your CT scan
- For most CECT abdomen scans, fast for 4–6 hours before the appointment.
- HRCT chest needs no fasting in most cases.
- For contrast studies, recent kidney function (serum creatinine) report is preferred.
- Tell us about any allergy to iodinated contrast or previous reactions.
- Drink plenty of water before and after a contrast scan.
- If you are or might be pregnant, please tell us before the scan.
